Dear Day Care Center Director:
More and more parents are finding that using our cloth diaper service is less expensive than using disposable diapers. We provide prefold organic, unbleached Indian cotton diapers to parents, picking up dirty diapers and delivering clean diapers weekly. Unfortunately, there are daycare centers that do not allow cloth diapering at their centers. However, with training, day care workers can easily change both cloth and disposable diapers, and we can provide that training at your request.
We can explain and demonstrate the use of (1) diaper doublers and hemp inserts that are used to wick extra moisture for heavy wetters; (2) plastic diaper wraps that cover the cloth diaper to prevent diapers leaking on to sheets or clothes; (3) replacement of diaper pins with fasteners and/or wraps with Velcro to fasten them. We are only a phone call away from our customers’ and their caregivers’ questions about cloth diapering.
Procedures required for disposable and cotton are essentially the same.
Day care providers can wash their hands properly and use disinfectant according to safety regulations whether they are changing disposables or cloth diapers. Also, daycare providers dispose of disposable diapers in trash bags and could easily put cloth diapers in wetbags designed to hold the odor inside until pick-up time. Parents could provide the wetbags.
Both cloth and disposable diapers meet national standards for diapers in daycare.
The diapers we provide meet the physical requirements of the National Health and Safety Performance Standards. (See “Cloth Diapered Children and Day Care Providers” by Heather Sanders) Both disposable and cloth diapers are able to hold in urine and stool and minimize fecal contamination when diapered by informed and properly trained daycare workers.
Again, if the need should arise, we will teach your daycare workers cloth diapering at any time or as many times as you wish for new employees, at no charge. Please call or email with your thoughts or concerns about using cloth diapers, and explain what we can do to assist you.
Sincerely,
Rick and Cindy Taylor
